Unplanned Interruption: 2007-06-13

Our Sheffield colocation facility suffered a Distributed Denial Of Service attack on Wednesday, 13th June.

Zone customers with zones resident on hardware in our Sheffield colocation facility will have noticed a prolonged period of apparent downtime last night, between 2230hrs and 2330hrs. Feedback from our colo:

Apologies to clients who were affected by network disruption last
night between about 2230 and 2330.

One of our IP addresses was subjected to a particularly nasty
distributed denial of service attack which overloaded our core
routers; it took some time to identify the source and destination
of these attacks and to put effective measures in place to filter
out the rogue traffic.  All services should however now be back to
normal.

My apologies for any inconvenience caused by this incident.
